Ayurveda presents a unique lens into our immunity, what affects it and how one can optimize it. Immunity depends on many factors: the efficiency of the digestive system, how well the liver is functioning, the state of ojas, tejas and prana, and one’s natural resistance power. The ancient Vedic art of prevention enables us to live longer with happiness, health and harmony. Dr. Vasant Lad will discuss and explore the factors that support immunity, ranging from psycho-emotional to physical.
Vasant Lad, BAM&S, MASc is a preeminent Ayurvedic Physician and Professor of Ayurveda who founded the Ayurvedic Institute in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in 1984. Since 1986 the Institute has been in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Previously, he had served as Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Pune University College of Ayurvedic Medicine in India. Dr. Lad holds a degree of Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery (B.A.M. & S.) from the University of Pune and a Master of Ayurvedic Science (M.A.Sc.) degree from Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya. His academic and practical training includes the study of allopathic medicine (Western medicine) and surgery.
Respected throughout the world for his knowledge, Dr. Lad is the author of many articles and books translated into more than 20 languages, including Ayurveda: The Science of Self-Healing, The Textbook of Ayurveda, Vol. 1-3, The Complete Book of Ayurvedic Home Remedies, and Ayurvedic Cooking for Self-Healing. His DVD Pranayama for Self-Healing gives instruction on the practice of breathing exercises.
Presently the Director of the Ayurvedic Institute in New Mexico, Vasant Lad teaches the Ayurvedic Studies Programs, Level 1 and 2. He has traveled extensively, giving seminars and sharing the holistic wisdom of Ayurveda, its history, theory, principles, and practical applications.
