8:30PM
By Donation
When Jalal ad-Din Rumi passed from his body (on December 17, 1273), his cat sat in mourning for seven days. Some who witnessed this noticed in the cat's unmoving devotion the virtue of patience, a recurring theme in Rumi's teachings. This program will commemorate Rumi's passing by presenting selections of his words regarding the power of patience. The dramatic presentation will feature poetry, stories and sayings from Rumi and his master, Shams al-Tabriz, also incorporating Sufi chanting befitting this solemn occasion.
Preceded by Ashram Meditation Program beginning at 7:00PM (by donation).
