* Indian Classical & Sacred Music: Sitar & Strings with Acharya Roop Verma
Bio: Acharya Roop Verma

Sat & Sun 10:30AM-12:30PM

Tuition:
$40 per class with a minimum of 3 students
$35 per class if more than 3 students

A monthly class series offering study of the Sitar in authentic oral tradition under a master teacher and performer. Other string instruments such as guitar, violin and cello are also included.

Acharya Roop Verma shares a unique and concise system of musical training. His experience comes from observation of how we learn things. He has simplified the process for this age of technology, where less time is available, by re-arranging essential features and filtering out non-vital elements that are irrelevant to the learning experience.

Topics will include introduction to the Indian musical system of notes, correct positioning of hands, fingers and instrument, rhythm exercises, simple music-making techniques, study of the science of ragas as a medium of self expression, as well as learning compositions in ragas and improvisation techniques specific to Indian classical music.
