10:30AM-12:30PM Human Anatomy - An Ayurvedic Perspective
Ayurveda regards the human body as a temple of divinity. Even the Sanskrit names for the vital organs correspond to different deities or cosmic forces. An opportunity to study the human body from the unique perspective of the ancient Vedic discipline.

2:00-4:00PM Creation of the Human Body
According to Ayurveda, the psychosomatic constitution (dosha), bodily tissues (dhatu), wastes (mala), the fire element (agni) and the subtle channels (srotas) all play a unique role in the creation and functioning of the human body. Dr. Lad will help students to trace the growth and development of the fetus throughout its intrauterine life.

10:30AM-12:30PM Signs & Symptoms of Doshic Imbalance
When an increased or disturbed dosha enters a tissue, it affects the consciousness and intelligence of the tissue at the cellular level, causing change in the functioning and ultimately the structure of the tissue. Learn to detect early signs and symptoms of doshic imbalance.

2:00-4:00PM Correcting Doshic Imbalances
Ayurveda places great emphasis on correcting doshic imbalances, according to their unique qualitative changes, through dietary and lifestyle adjustments, right thinking and regular cleansing routines appropriate to a person’s individual constitution. Progress is proportional to one’s ability to follow the established guidelines.

Prana is living energy, the subtle element underlying the fabric of all creation. Learn how prana moves and operates in the body and the universe and examine its role in the formation of perception, sensation, thoughts, feelings and emotions.

2:00-4:00PM Pranic Imbalances - An Ayurvedic Perspective
The flow of prana through the body and mind dictates our experience of life and has far-reaching effects on physical, emotional and spiritual health. Ayurveda offers practical methods for balancing the five classes of pranic energy in order to maintain perfect health or to induce healing.

10:30AM-12:30PM Pranayama for the Different Doshas
There are profound teachings in Ayurveda involving the relation of pranayama to vata, pitta and kapha, and how to use pranayama to balance the doshas and enhance longevity. Dr. Lad will share a series of special breathing techniques for balancing each of the doshas and deepening the experience of meditative awareness.

2:00-4:00PM The Art of Dying - An Ayurvedic Perspective
Living and dying are two sides of the same coin. If we practice the art of dying from moment to moment, then at the time of death, death disappears and dying becomes a celebration of life. Then the deep and intimate connection between life and death will be revealed.

10:30AM-12:30PM Yogic Practices for Different Doshas
When yoga is practiced according to an individual’s prakriti or constitution, the asana becomes therapeutic and can be used to maintain balance between body, mind and consciousness. Students will learn complete sets of yoga asanas suitable for different constitutions and for specific imbalances.

2:00-4:00PM Meditations for Different Doshas
Meditation is a powerful tool for maintaing doshic balance and perfect health. In the state of silent meditation the mind loses its boundaries and merges into universal intelligence, order and virtue. In that universal mind there is unconditional love and profound healing energy. Dr. Lad will share meditations suitable for each doshic type.

10:30AM-12:30PM Healing through Mantra & Rituals
Puja, or ritual worship, purifies the body and mind and creates a happy and holy environment. Flowers are offered as a symbol of the innocent mind, incense as the symbol of breath, the flame of a ghee lamp as the symbol of the individual life, and water as the symbol of plasma.

2:00-4:00PM Ganesha Puja
While performing a puja ceremony, divine communication is developed between the individual and universal consciousness, preparing the path toward achievement of the four purposes of life: dharma, artha, kama and moksha. Dr. Lad will perform a puja in honor of Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and bestower of all blessings.
